Skate shoe selection and maintenance knowledge
Generally, you can move a few meters on the ice with ice skating, but you can slide a few tens of meters with ice skates. What is the principle? Let's take a look at the ice knife to reveal the secret~
Why should skates be installed on skates
We walk on the friction between the shoes and the ground. Without friction, we can't move. For skating, the smaller the friction, the smoother the slide. The ice skate can not only get forward power quickly during the startup and acceleration phases, but also reduce the friction during taxiing and maintain stability. So, in fact, skating is very good for children to practice balance and coordination skills~
Scientists have studied the contact surface between the ice blade and the ice surface, and found that the reason for the small friction is that there is a water film between the ice blade and the ice surface, which plays a lubricating role.
In fact, to explain our unknown high-tech skate shoes, there are many professional vocabulary: liquid film, melting point, temperature, etc., I think it is too difficult to understand, in short, it is very powerful to install ice skates~
Choose skate shoes
"The same shoe doesn't fit everyone when it is worn." The same is true for skates. In the previous article, we talked about the importance of children's bone development. The inappropriateness of wearing skates can't be underestimated. .
1 Skate shoes should be suitable
Another bad result of wearing too big skates is that it may cause foot problems. If the skates are too big, the feet will constantly rub against the shoes and the feet will blister. Skates that don't fit well can cause foot disease such as tendinitis, bone spurs, and bunions. Moreover, too large skates will affect skating, causing the skater's balance point to deviate.
In reality, especially in China, many people's skates are a bit too large. On the one hand, the feet of children are still growing. When parents buy shoes, they always reserve some space. On the other hand, all brands on the market Only regular sizes are provided, and it is difficult to buy just the right length and width, so most people can only buy shoes that are slightly larger. We recommend that skaters whose feet are already formed and who are starting to practice a week of jumps should buy skates that fit the feet.
2Choose according to the project
First of all, you have to determine which type of skates you want. As an ice sport, skating mainly includes three types of items: figure skating, ice hockey and speed skating. The skates used in different projects are different, so you need to understand each Features of the project and various skates:
The main feature of speed skating is speed. Therefore, the body of the speed skating blade is very long, and the blade is narrow and flat, so that the area of pedaling ice is large, the friction resistance is small, and the waist of the shoe is short, so as to lower the center of gravity of the body and reduce the air resistance.
The ice hockey project is very confrontational and requires good maintenance measures. Therefore, the toe of the ice hockey shoe is very hard, the waist is high, the upper is thick, the blade of the skate is very short, and it has a large arc to facilitate skaters. Move flexibly on the ice and change the direction of taxiing.
Figure skating is difficult and requires a high degree of stability. Therefore, the blade has a groove in the middle and the blade has an arc to facilitate turning and footwork. There are teeth on the front of the blade to facilitate jumping and falling. The waist of the shoe is hard and high. It is to protect the ankle joint when falling after jumping. Beginner skaters generally choose figure skating shoes.
3 pick attention
After you decide which shoe to buy, you should also pay attention to the following points when choosing shoes:
Whether the knife body is straight, hold the skates upside down, lift the blade up and the shoe mouth down, and use one eye to see if the knife body is in a straight line. The straighter the knife body, the better.
Is there a deep cut in the blade? If there is a deep cut in the blade, it will affect the ice pedaling effect when skating. Therefore, when buying new shoes, you should try to choose an ice blade with a shallow cut.
Is the connection between the skates and skates reasonable? Generally, when the figure skates are perpendicular to the hockey skates, the skates should be located in the middle of the skates. The left foot knife of the skates deflects slightly to the left about 15 degrees, and the right foot knife deflects slightly to the left 15 degrees.
Whether the ice skates are shiny
Some ice skates begin to rust due to poor steel or silver plating. The surface of the blade body begins to rust, and the silver plating has a shedding phenomenon. A good ice skate should be very bright and have no rust marks on the surface.
Whether the number is suitable. The skate number must be suitable for me, neither too large nor too small. When you try shoes, you should loosen all the laces and then tighten them in sequence. You must make sure that the number is suitable before you can buy it.
Figure skating skates should fit and fit snugly like gloves, as if they were tailored to your feet. There should not be any looseness in the heel. Any loose parts will make your feet blisters or long bone spurs (that is, joint bone hyperplasia), and will make skating more difficult. The higher the level of skating, the greater the impact of the fit of the skate on you.
If you choose the right skates and skate several times a week, then an adaptation period (break-in period) ranging from several days to several weeks is required. If your feet are still painful after 5-6 months, then you should have chosen the wrong skate, which does not match your skating level. It is normal for blisters, foot pain, or bone spurs to appear during the running-in process.
To be honest, it is difficult to say who is good and who is not good for the skates of several famous brands in the world. The difference between them is the last, thickness, hardness and leather. So, instead of asking the question "Which brand is the best", you should ask "Which brand of skates are best for my feet."
Some people like to judge the quality of skates by their hardness. In fact, how hard the skates are depends on your skating level. Top skates are very hard and are designed for adult players who do three-week and four-week jumps. If beginners also choose this kind of skates, the result is that they are afraid of skating, and finally give up skating, because their feet will always hurt, and the skates can't run in.
Good skates are not as hard as possible, nor as advanced as possible. Choose the right one according to your situation. Fit and comfortable is the last word.
How to adapt to new skates
It is quite painful to adapt to the new skates. It is to adapt the leather shoes made of layers of leather to the shape of your feet and ankles. Correctly adapting to the skates is not only about running in as soon as possible, making your feet less painful, but also allowing your skates to be treated from the beginning and not to be damaged too quickly.
The correct way to adapt is to put on new skates to skate, instead of walking around on the ground, because the posture of skating is different from that of walking. The same is true for children. Parents must learn and communicate correctly. Let's take a look at the specific steps~
01 Put on your new skates, do not tie the top two rows of shoelace hooks. Slide 15-20 minutes. You can do leg kicks and simple footwork, but don't jump, turn, or do other movements that require a large knee flexion. Slide 15-20 minutes and drop the ice.
02 Take off the skates, loosen the laces completely, and then fasten them again. Wear skates again, or don't tie the top two rows of hooks, and slide for another 15-20 minutes.
03 Repeat steps 1 and 2 and keep sliding for about two hours. You don't need to slide for two hours at a time. After sliding for two hours, loosen the laces, then tie them back and put them on again. This time, leave the top row of hooks.
04 Slide for another two hours, remember to loosen and re-tie the laces every 15-20 minutes. Constantly re-lacing the laces is related to whether the skates are worn in harmony. You don't need to slide for two hours at a time, as long as you have accumulated more than two hours. Don't tie the top two rows of hooks in the first two hours, and don't tie the top rows of hooks in the next two hours.
05 Tie the top row of hooks and glide normally. Once your skates are tied to the top row of hooks, you can start practicing jumping, turning and knee-strapping gait. Some skaters like to wait for skews on the ankles of the skates to start jumping. This is also possible.
Attention
If your skates are so painful that your ankles or other parts of your feet are very painful, this is normal. Conditional ice rinks or professional shops can help you stretch the skates corresponding to the painful areas (it seems that there are not many in China). You can also buy a silicone pad to protect the painful area.
How to maintain skates
One question people often ask is "how long can my skates be worn". The truth is "In addition to the intensity and frequency of use of different people, the life of the skates depends on how you maintain your skates!" If you have already bought skates for your children, then hurry up and maintain it~
1 Try to keep it as dry as possible
Most people sweat their feet when skating. This sweat is a problem. Sweat will stick to the inside of the skates, and sweat acid will corrode the leather inside the skates; sweat will breed a odorous microorganism subcultured bacteria, accelerate the expansion and contraction of the leather, causing the leather to rupture.
★How to do it: Try to keep the inside of the skate dry. After skating, immediately wipe the inside and outside of the skates with a rag or paper towel. Then put the skates in a ventilated place so that the skates can dry completely. After skating, do not put your skates in an airtight locker or car trunk until the next skating.
Another way is to stuff a group of newspapers into the skates after you skate, the newspapers will absorb the moisture, you can also put a desiccant in the skates.
After skating, you should at least loosen the shoelaces completely so that the skates can be easily dried.
2 Don't put your skates in a hot car
Many skates now have thermoplastics. Skates can't distinguish between a heating furnace and a hot car trunk. Both of these things can make skates soft and reshape them.
If you have to put your skates in a very hot car, put them up (the shoe barrel mouth is up and the heel is down), do not lie on your side, let alone put the skates under a pile of things. If you do this, they are likely to deform, and then you know what will happen? You will have to remodel them.
3 Add some oil or care agent to the skates
If your skates are genuine leather, occasionally add oil or leather care agents to the skates, but don't wear too much. Applying too much care agent tends to soften the leather, and of course you don’t want your skates to become too soft.
4 Use net pocket skate bag
Do not use closed skate bags, or your skates will never dry. Conversely, using a ventilated bag with mesh pockets allows the skates to dry faster.
5 keep the skates clean
Always wipe the outside of your skates with a damp cloth. If this does not wipe off the dirt, wipe it with a little mild detergent and water. If you are worried about fading, try scrubbing the parts that are not exposed first.
How to maintain the ice skates? Are you dizzy? The top is skates. This one is a skate. As for the skates that can smash coconuts in The Rest of the Desert, the sharp, tough, life-saving skates~ the skates are in direct contact with the ice surface. Maintenance is essential.
1 sharpening
A sharp pair of ice skates is more helpful than a blunt pair of blades. When the ice skates are not comfortable to slide when you fall ice, the ice skates should be worn. Record the skating time (in hours) between the two sharpening. Soon you will find out how long you can slide on average after each sharpening, which helps you avoid the embarrassment of the lack of ice skates at critical moments (such as games or performances).
Here you have to master a good measure. Generally speaking, you need to grind once every 20 hours of skating. Of course, this varies from person to person. You can also make the interval longer or shorter.
In addition, the knife sharpener is very important. Choose carefully who will let you sharpen your knife. If your sharpener master does not understand figure skating, you should be careful. Flower knives and ball knives are very different, and don't use machines to grind them automatically. The bottom of the knife is grooved (so that it has a blade). The curvature of the knife body is also very different, depending on your weight, your sliding items (free sliding, ice dancing, graphics), and the level of jumping you do, the radius of curvature varies from 5/16 inches to 2 inches, good The sharpener master will ask you this information first. If he doesn't understand why you told him these things, consider changing to a master.
2 on ice
Remember, steel is hard but wears out. The thin part of the blade that forms the most critical blade is the most likely to break and wear.
The ice skate is used to slide on the ice, not to walk on the floor. If you have to walk on the floor, put on a hard knife cover. If you don’t wear a knife cover, try to tip your toes and touch the ground with the teeth of the knife, and don’t touch the ground with that fragile blade. But you should also pay attention to what kind of floor, rubber floor or floor mat or carpet is possible, but do not walk on the concrete floor, floor tiles, of course, do not walk on the expensive floor of your home.
When going up and down the ice, pay attention to the "threshold" of the ice rink import and export. Usually this guy is made of iron. People often don't pay attention to this guy. Many serious fractures of the ice skates are caused by this guy. Therefore, it is necessary to cross the threshold and do not step on and enter the ice rink.
3 When skating
Braking is a very frequent action when skating. But the damage of these brakes to skates is far better than smooth. Of course you can't avoid braking, but you can change the way you brake. You can do snow shoveling on one foot, T-stop, or tango stop. In addition, remember that your two feet are different. The left and right foot brakes have different effects on the ice skates. If you use both left and right feet, you can extend the sharpening interval.
4 after icing
The biggest skate killer after icing is rust. Rust is much softer than steel, and when a part of the skate is rusted, you don’t want to restore it to its original state. The rusty parts can no longer be pressed. So try not to rust your skates!
Dry your ice skates every time it is iced. Before wearing the knife cover, wipe the "snow" on both sides of the ice skates with two fingers, and then carefully wipe the grooves of the blade with your fingers (skin cream helps prevent moisture) .
If this day is over, be sure to wipe the ice skates with a rag, and wipe the blade body and holder, including the contact surface with the sole. The screws will also rust, and the screws will loosen when the screws rust or the leather rots. If you have time (such as when you change clothes), let the ice skates stay for a few minutes, then wipe it again before putting it in your bag. After the ice skates fall, the warm air will condense into a layer of water vapor.
When you put the ice skates in the bag, put on a soft knife cover, so that if there is still dry moisture, it will be wiped off or sucked. But more importantly, the soft knife cover can protect the ice skates and prevent the blades from bumping in the bag. Do not store the ice skates with a hard knife cover. The hard knife cover does not absorb water and will always rust.
5 Maintain your knife cover
The soft knife will break after a period of time, usually at both ends. If the soft knife cover cannot effectively protect the ice skates, it must be replaced. The hard knife sleeve will also be damaged. Pay attention to the thin spots or small holes at the bottom of the hard knife sleeve. Replace it when you see any damage. Wipe the inside of the hard knife cover frequently to prevent fine sand particles from accumulating inside. The fine sand particles will wear the skates.
